Born on 31 December 1990 in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, Sonu’s connection with music began early. Growing up in a musically inclined family, he was deeply influenced by his grandfather, a respected clarinet maestro, whose passion for music left a lasting imprint on his formative years. This early exposure laid the foundation for a life devoted to sound and rhythm.

Sonu completed his undergraduate studies at Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, after which he pursued formal music education at Cochin Kalabhavan under the guidance of Anish Thaikudam. Determined to refine his technical skill and musical understanding, he trained extensively in drumming with Jimmy at Evans Music Academy and Matthews at Jam Conservatory. To complement his performance skills, Sonu further expanded his expertise by studying Sound Engineering and Music Production under legendary sound engineer Francis Kollannur, gaining a deeper understanding of sound design and live audio dynamics.

His early career was rooted in parish-based performances and gospel music projects, where he served as the official drummer for the Jesus’ Youth Gospel Band.
